We moved into the country about two months ago and I decided I was going to decorate rustic throughout the kitchen, dining, and living areas (since it is so open). We have great views and did not want to cover all of the windows, so I came up with quick and inexpensive valances/swags......made from burlap.
The kitchen valance is burlap glued onto a wooden dowel with iron stars on the end. I was not entirely happy when I hung it up, so I gathered it in the middle and tied on raffia. Voila! Easy, peasy kitchen valance.
